Key Note from the Founder
of ShareMyPhoto.co.uk:
There has been a growing
trend in the number of ID theft cases reported in the UK. With the
rising interest and use of social networking websites it seems that
we are all using the Web to interact with our friends and family online
more than ever before.
In the old days it could
take fraudsters several weeks to gather enough useful information
to steal a person’s identity, with the Internet and the advent
of sites like Facebook it can now take just a few hours.
Although I have not yet
been a victim of ID fraud myself, it has struck me with surprise how
easily even I, have been willing to surrender my life story to social
networking sites.
With hindsight my new saying
is - keeps your friends close and your enemies locked out.
Unwilling to be a sleepwalking
victim of ID theft I have used my 10 years experience working in IT
to put together a Web site purpose built for photo and multimedia
sharing. The principle driver for this was that ultimately there are
like minded people out there who simply want to communicate in the
ways of not so yesteryear, take using Web e-mail for example. Sometimes
people want to share their family photo’s online without using
large e-mail attachments, hence the development of this site, where
users can sign up and not be asked questions about their interests
or what food they like, all of which could ultimately be potential
security questions for accessing a persons’ bank account!
Keep safe online!
